English giants Manchester City have opened talks with Raheem Sterling over a new mega-money deal just 12 months after he signed his latest contract.

Sterling, 24, has scored 18 goals for club and country across all competitions this season and put himself among Europe’s elite.

City star Sterling’s stats for this season put him above the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and he is earning admiring glances from Europe’s top clubs.

Man City’s last contract for Sterling takes him up to 2023 and is worth up to £300,000-a-week but his form in the past year has made them want to ensure they tie him down for as long as possible.

It was recently reported by Sky Sports that Real Madrid were ready to offer City a sum of £70 million, as well as Wales forward Gareth Bale, in exchange for the 24-year-old.

After achieving huge in the 2018-19 season, there’s been no sense of Sterling resting on his laurels and has started the current campaign in mesmerising form.

Sterling has won two Premier League titles at City, the FA Cup and two League Cups as Pep Guardiola’s side completed a domestic Treble last term.

Raheem Sterling’s growth as a player under Pep Guardiola has been extraordinary. His dribbling ability and speed made him nearly unstoppable for defences and that’s why Man City want to tie him down.
